Our vision is to bring quantitative information based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) into daily routines of physicians. We are convinced that such information are beneficial for many participants in the health industry, because they may serve as benchmark physicians can consult and rely on. With our gifted team, McMRI pursues this vision with motivation and commitment.




We focus our vision on one of the most challenging and complex diseases of this century: Alzheimer’s disease. Our mission is to introduce quantitative information derived from MRI of the brain into the daily practice of physicians working with dementia patients. We strongly believe that quantitative information usefully complements clinical reporting and supports decision-making by the doctor regarding diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

By offering appMRI Hippocampus Volume Analyser, a web application that produces reliable and fully automated quantitative measurement of hippocampal volume in brain MRIs, we provide an easy-to-use tool for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease and the ability to track disease progression objectively.





Vítor Emanuel Gomes Gouveia

Vítor Gouveia received his master's degree in computer science at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2008. During the early years of his career he collaborated closely with the research group QUASAR (Quantitative Approaches on Software Engineering And Reengineering) as research fellow. During 2010 he was responsible for the development, design and maintenance of the content management system for a private company. Early in 2011 he joined CERN as a software developer / system administrator where he worked for 3 and a half years.


At CERN he was the administrator of the ETICS (eInfrastructure for Testing, Integration and Configuration of Software) service, and also actively participated in the Agile Infrastructure Project as a member of the configuration management team. Dr. Olof Lindberg

Medical Consultant

Olof Lindberg defended his thesis ”The aging frontal lobe in health and disease – A structural magnetic resonance imaging study” at the Karolinska institute in 2012 and has since then been working as a junior researcher at the Karolinska institute and at Lunds university in Sweden. His main area of expertise is different methodology for measuring volumetric data on structural magnetic resonance images, using various approaches like manual delineation, voxelbased morphometry or other automated methods such as Freesufer. He has participated in the development of methods for measuring some subcortical brain structures like the caudate nucleus.


His main research areas are volumetric and functional brain changes in healthy aging and in different forms of dementia using structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging. Olof joined the McMRI team in March 2016. He serves as consultant and supports the company as field expert for questions related to the brain anatomy and MRI techniques.

We are proud to offer a certified medical product (German Certificate). appMRI Hippocampus Volume Analyser complies with essential product requirements according to the European Medical Device Guideline MEDDEV 2.1/6, MEDDEV 2.7.1, MEDDEV 2.12-1, and Medical Product Directive 93/42/EWG with amendments RL 2007/47/EG.
